They are used to evaluate and probe deeply into "how and why" people feel about a particular issue or subject and how they respond to factors related to the topic. Focus groups can be used to test specific mail pieces, TV or radio commercial or other communications. Ultimately, their purpose is to refine the message you intend to communicate.
